Fashion Fights Poverty with PR at Partners
So what is Fashion Fights Poverty? According to the Washington Post, it is “one of the largest fashion fundraisers in Washington, DC.” An organization who features national and international designers who employ ethical means and practices in their design and manufacturing processes to produce products that promote economic development and the betterment of a given community, FFP provides a forum for dialogue and awareness-building about how fashion, textiles, and design can alleviate poverty and empower communities.
They are hosting their 3rd-annual Ethical Fashion Show on October 26, 2007 at Carnegie Library (K Street, DC) from 5p-11p. PR at Partners and Pretty by PR Cosmetics have been asked to do all hair and makeup for the show! The catwalk will feature the world-famous beats of DJ Beverly Bond. Almost 50 models will showcase 9 designers, Aid to Artisans and clothing from generous fashion houses donated to their silent auction. Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke who will be modeling a collection by Nashville-based rock n’ roll designer Elizabeth Muir that was developed in Afghanistan with local artisans.
All guests will sip on vodka cocktails by Emperor’s Brand vodka and food by Dean & Delucca in lounges decorated with West Elm décor.
And most importantly, Edwarc Marc Chocolatier’s “The Chocolate Suite” will be located in the main showroom near the runway. Yum!!! The afterparty will be hosted at Lotus Lounge with a portion of ticket sales being donated to Aid to Artisans. This will be an event not to be missed.
