Leah Le and a Fashion Week Story

Posted in Events, Fashion News on September 24th, 2008 by Natasha Laws

It all began with a phone call one week before the kick off of Fashion Week, Leah Le had been spotted in “Little Black Book” and chosen to work with The Sebastian team on the Charlotte Ronson show and Rad Hourani. I am not going to lie there was great excitement. I begged for pictures, thinking sadly, none would come… but they did! So, here is a look of backstage at Fashion week.

Summer Style Tips

Posted in Fashion News on July 25th, 2008 by Bonnie-Love

summer-trend.jpgHere are a few tips on how to wear the hottest trends for Summer 2008:

FULLNESS-Everything is BIG this summer! Dresses, pants, sleeves… But, unless your body mimic’s that of a runway model, your best bet is to still give yourself some shape by adding a belt. Skinny, wide and corset belts are all being used to accentuate parts of the body. Remember to enhance your best features with close fitting volume and distract your body kinks with carefully placed volume.

THE FULL LEG/OVER-SIZED TROUSER- Best when worn with a fitted top or blazer. Do not, I repeat, do not wear oversized trousers with a voluminous top, unless of course your 6 feet tall.

HI-WAISTED- The opposite will go for the hi-waist. When there is little volume around the torso, go for more volume on top. If you want to do a slim & sexy look with your hi-waisted bottoms, wear a shirt with voluminous sleeves.

THE MAXI DRESS- My fave! It’s bigger this season…literally! You’ll see the maxi in beautiful flowing fabrics and bold colors. The silhouettes vary from A-lines, to very straight to larger than life volume. For us, vertically-challenged women, stick with the straighter maxi or slight A-line. Taller women can get away with the big-volume maxis without looking like they’re going to float away. To really add some umph to your maxi, wear lots of chunky, ethnic-inspired jewelry. It really gives a goddess feel. Wedges are great to add some height and elongate the figure. To play-down your maxi, throw on some sandals.

BOLD COLORS- The more in your face, the better was the verdict for this year’s summer palette. The biggest colors were bright yellow, kelly green, electric blue and orange-red. Almost any color is in this summer. So, you love the color, but don’t want to over do it… pair it with a neutral to tone it down. Black, white or gray work great for this.

BLACK & WHITE- for a sleek and sophisticated look, this is a great combination. But, try giving a splash of color with a yellow bangle or an over-sized kelly green bag. This will give the look a fresh feel!Have any questions about a trend that your dying to try this season? If so, email (Stylist @ Love Rocks Boutique .com)

Thinking of a Bob? Great Bob ideas

Posted in Fashion News, Styling Tips on March 31st, 2008 by Natasha Laws

pratpartners_bobs_eileen2.jpgpratpartnes_bobs_lisa2.jpg

So, you’ve seen Katie’s bob, and of course you’ve seen the now famous POB, and now you’re thinking - hey wait I want a bob! Here are nine bobs created by our team all on local Washington area women. Ready for yours? Here’s some things to know about bobs.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of time styling your bob, let your stylist know, so he/she can create a lower maintenance shape that works with waves or the natural volume of your hair. Bobs come in many lengths, if you’re nervous to go short, opt for a longer length. Stylists can always take length off but they have yet to figure out how to add length. The bob you want may not be the best shape to suit your face shape, so even if you have a picture in hand the finished product may vary to flatter you. Lastly, don’t let your new bob start without a picture, the best way to get a bob you love is for you and your stylist to review pictures to ensure it’s the exact shape you expect.

Love one of the these nine bobs let us know! Leave us a comment, judging for our photographic competition wont be complete until April 30th, 2008 and we’d love to know what you think.

PR at Partners K street Team Provides Runway Hair for DC Fashion Week/Fair Trade Fashion Show

Posted in Fashion News on March 2nd, 2007 by Bonnie-Love

Weren’t able to make it to the opening of DC Fashion Week at the IFC/World Bank Fair Trade Fashion Show? Here’s what you missed… a Beautiful photo documentary of a recent trip to Kenya, bright, bold and beautiful clothing by Asian, Latin American and African designers. There were over 500 guests all their to support this cause. All of the designers work with microfinance initiatives and fair trade in their developing countries. The models were gorgeous. And the crowd had lots of fun…(especially when the guys came down the runway-but you didn’t hear that from me!) Our K Street team (Jacqui, Mac and Monica) were proud to provide Hair Styling for the show and can’t wait for another opportunity like this to support such a great cause! Thanks to Photographer An Van de Wal of Lumiere Photography for the great pics.

DC Fashion Week 2007

Posted in Fashion News on February 7th, 2007 by Bonnie-Love

Do the words “Bryant Park”, “Mercedes-Benz”, “7th on Sixth” mean anything to you? If so, you may be one of thousands who dream of attending one (or any, for that matter) of these fabulous shows. As most all ready know, these shows are not easily open to the public. If you are not a member of the press, a celebrity, socialite or buyer – good luck on trying to get tickets. Well, good news for the fashion-hungry…DC Fashion Week, in its fourth year, is a Fashion Week Exhibit held twice a year (February/September). . It is planned by a non-profit organization whose goals are to “increase economic development” in fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling and to “enhance the visibility of the nation’s capital as a cultural center of international fashion.” In other words, to create an opportunity for DC to be respected as, at the least, a fashionable city. New York, Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo…DC? Maybe not yet, but we’re sure headed in the right direction. Here’s a list of the main events for DC Fashion Week:
February 28: Fair Trade Collections Intl. Finance Corporation @ The World Bank Group
March 1: The Betsey Johnson Collection @ Club Avenue
March 3: The Washingtonian Menswear Collections @ Holiday Inn Capitol at the Smithsonian
March 4: International Couture Collections @ The Embassy of France

Fresh Look for a Beauty Queen

Before After

In Columbia beauty pageants are a big thing, so we were totally thrilled to meet Talia, a true Columbian beauty queen. Talia had super long hair, you know the kind we all dream of, yet only seems to happen in Shampoo commercials. Not only long but thick, glossy, wavy and healthy. Still even beauty queens can use a FRESH LOOK. Tammey, from Old Town, enriched Talia’s color with a velvety warm brown, covering over old highlights and adding warmth to Talia’s complexion. Next sexy short bangs and face framing layers, to sculpt Talia’s face. Talia’s hair is still long and lush but now it has a shape and lots of sex kitten style.

A big THANK YOU to Kory, from our Tenleytown location, for the naturally lush makeup (all PRetty by PR) and to Sean for the great pictures.
