Jacqui Davis in The Washington Post

Posted in General on October 6th, 2008 by Bonnie-Love

derek-lam.jpgWhen Holly E. Thomas of The Washington Post asked Jacqui Davis (Metro Center Location) to re-create one of the hottest Fall Trends in Hair-The French Twist, Jacqui was all over it. Here are Jacqui’s tips for creating the Classic Twist at home:Modern Twists at Derek LamJacqui Davis, PR at Partners (1001 G St. NW, 202-737-0909,www.pratpartners.com)1. Derek Lam’s models sported slightly roughed-up versions of theclassic French twist, a look Davis calls ” the do for fall.” Davis recommends styling with slightly dirty hair, which is easier to work with. To combat oil, apply a hair powder at the scalp and brush through. Davis swears by the color-coordinated options from Bumble and Bumble ($19-$34).2. For model Sheila Marquez’s look, take the top “horseshoe” section of your hair (from the front hairline between the midpoints of the eyebrows to the top of the crown) and use a natural-bristle paddle brush to back-comb the underside, working in small sections from back to front.3. Spritz hair with a “working” hair spray, such as Bumble and Bumble’s Does It All styling spray ($14-$24), which lets you manipulate your hair without creating helmet head, then let it dry. Use the paddle brush to gently smooth the top layer of hair, but don’t take out the back-combing. Pinch the hair at the back of the crown and push it upward to create a bouffant. Use pins to secure.4. Back-comb the underside of the remaining hair. Apply a generous dose of working spray, and smooth the sides lightly with the brush. Pull it back as if you’re making a high ponytail, then twist to create a vertical roll. Tuck in the ends at the top, then use pins on the round side of the roll, pushing them straight through the thickest part, perpendicular to the head, and turning them sideways to slide in under the roll. The heavier your hair, the more pins you’ll need.

We are honored to be recognized in Washingtonian Magazine again! Every 3 years, they have a Best of Hair Issue. They stop fashionable Washingtonian’s on the Metro, in parties and on the street and ask “Who does your hair?”. The results are in. Congratulations to Jacqui Davis (Metro Center), Neat (Shirlington) & Ngoc (Mazza). Read below to see what they had to say…washingtonian1.jpg

James Meets an Icon

Posted in General on October 6th, 2008 by Natasha Laws

alexandracousteau-385-edit_pratpartners.jpgJames had the great honor to meet and work with Alexandra Cousteau, the daughter of the legendary Jack Cousteau. James worked with Tim Coburn to create a great layout. However, the best bit is this…. So, James sent me an e-mail on how lovely Alexandra is and this is a direct quote from the E-mail “We talked about her grandfather and how I grew up watching him and all his underwater exploring, she loved how I grew up playing with tadpoles, frogs, and have such a love for animals.” Ok, James really tadpoles and frogs… that’s kinda nasty. I hope you’ve stopped doing that. Well, either way love the hair and makeup.

Fashion Fights Poverty and Parker Posey

Posted in General on October 6th, 2008 by Natasha Laws

So, I am kinda late posting this… Our team worked their butts off to pull of hair and makeup this year for Fashion Fights Poverty. And the intermittent power supply was really splendid, but with the hardest working hair and makeup team in Washington DC, all things ended well. Here’s the hard working team and of course a snap shot of James Cornwell and Jacqui Davis who provided hair and makeup for the guest of honor.pp-and-james.jpgffp-back-stage.jpgffp-backstage.jpgffp-backstage3.jpg
