Get Ready for a Hair Free Summer - Ready. Set. Sugaring

Posted in Latest Press on March 12th, 2007 by Natasha Laws

Getting rid of unwanted body hair is one of life’s chores, but our Skincare specialists are here to make it simple, painless and less of a chore. We are one of the few area spa’s to offer Alexandria Sugaring, a fantastic all natural hair removal system and alternative to waxing. Sugaring is an all natural, less painful and long lasting hair removal solution. It’s even gentle enough for the most sensitive skin and wont leave red marks like waxing. Plus, sugaring also removes hair as short as 1/8 of an inch, no more awkward periods waiting for hair to grow in.

But why are we writing about this now? Well, the more removal treatments you have the less hair will grow back, so that over time hair is far less noticeable. Also if you’re prone to in-grown hairs a sugaring treatment paired with exfoliation treatments will reduce the number of in-grown hairs. We get a lot of questions about Sugaring feel free to send us yours, info@pratpartners.com

Still, don’t just take our word for it, here ’s a recent review of our sugaring services from the Washington Post Metro. Click the image below for a larger version.

PR at Partners Making Washingtonians Look Good Feel Good

Posted in Latest Press on January 26th, 2007 by Natasha Laws

We are excited to be featured in the latest Washingtonian Magazine - Look Good Feel Good
Our Fresh Look Director _ Mary Shaffer (who works in Tysons, not Mclean as the article states) created a new fresh professional look for Nancy Reller owner of Sojourn communications. Sojourncommuications.com. Read Mary’s solutions for a younger Nancy below.

Washingtonian Article

The first thing I noticed about Nancy’s hair was the color, it was washing out all of her facial features and flattening out her skin tone. The blond was too solid, too light, and had no depth or richness. Nancy had very little gray, however; as happens to most natural blonds, her natural color looked dull and ashy. To best compliment her natural color, I added Hi lights in three colors of honey blond; a light, medium and dark. The blend of colors added warmth to her hair which brought out the gold in her skin and made her eyes a brilliant blue green.

Her cut also needed an adjustment. It was dragging down the balance of her face, it was very flat on top while bulky and triangular around her petite jaw. I wanted to open her face up and draw the attention to her vivid eyes and nice high cheek bones. To do this, I shifted the layers up and added texture and movement throughout the bottom. Nancy wanted a shape that she might be able to air dry. I softened the lines of the layers and showed her how to twist and scrunch her hair to have an alternate weekend look that works well on mid-length hair

When we discussed her outfit, Nancy said she didn’t want to look too conservative. Since she is funny and lively, she needed something playful, so I chose a dark hot pink DKNY cowl neck top. Nancy’s high contrast coloring make rich colors more flattering, and the pink worked well in this regard. The cowl neck opened up her long neck and lovely collar bone. This jacket had a different silhouette than a standard blazer, it was more modern, and looked lovely coupled with a softer top.

For Nancy’s makeup I chose gold, brown and rose tones. Working the rose in to complement her top but balancing it with warmth. She has lovely skin so I used a yellow based concealer under her eyes, eye shadow primer and a tinted moisturizer with a tiny bit of shimmer to it. Most women either overuse foundation or use nothing at all, Tinted moisturizer is a great alternative if you want a glow but still want skin to look like skin (and it doesn’t settle into wrinkles), so I used that all over her face and neck. For her lips I used a golden mauve lipstick one shade darker than her natural lip color. Lip liner looks severe and makes lips look smaller instead we plumped them up using a peach gloss. The real focal point for me was her eyes. Dark eye makeup or eyeliner can look harsh or stern. I used a gold shimmer all over her lids with golden brown and dark rose blended in the crease and corners. I softly lined her eyes with a medium brown pencil. Several coats of lash thickener and black mascara brought us extra drama.
