How to Style a Bob

The feel of this “Bob” is a strong geometric shape, complimented with softness, but just how do you style it at home?
1. To keep the fringe (bangs) and edges strong and smooth, apply a smoothing serum, blowdry with a flat brush keeping the hair straight with a slight bend.
2. The textured layers through the crown should be enhanced with a texture or volumizing lotion, blowdry with less precision using your fingers or the flat brush but allowing the texture in the haircut to come through.
3. Now that the hair is completely dry, use the blowdryer, on cool air, to lift the textured layers, at the same time, spray a light spray wax through to enhance the separation and texture.
You are now rockin’ one hot bob!.

Thinking of a Bob? Great Bob ideas

So, you’ve seen Katie’s bob, and of course you’ve seen the now famous POB, and now you’re thinking - hey wait I want a bob! Here are nine bobs created by our team all on local Washington area women. Ready for yours? Here’s some things to know about bobs.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of time styling your bob, let your stylist know, so he/she can create a lower maintenance shape that works with waves or the natural volume of your hair. Bobs come in many lengths, if you’re nervous to go short, opt for a longer length. Stylists can always take length off but they have yet to figure out how to add length. The bob you want may not be the best shape to suit your face shape, so even if you have a picture in hand the finished product may vary to flatter you. Lastly, don’t let your new bob start without a picture, the best way to get a bob you love is for you and your stylist to review pictures to ensure it’s the exact shape you expect.

Love one of the these nine bobs let us know! Leave us a comment, judging for our photographic competition wont be complete until April 30th, 2008 and we’d love to know what you think.

Fall and Winter Makeup

Yelena_RT_lowres.jpgHey Washinistas,
It’s time to fall in to step with Fashion this Season by following these three makeup tips.
Face: Don’t put away your Pretty Mineral Sheer Tint just yet. Light foundation is still super in. Do give yourself a light dusting of Pretty Mineral Pressed Powder to give yourself that fabulous matte fall finish.
Brows: Don’t over-tease or over-arch your brows.
Do keep your waxing appointments; although brows are more natural this fall, they are still groomed. Keep them under control with Pretty Brow Set.
Lips:Don’t forget to exfoliate your lips and condition with Pretty Vitamin E Stick. Do treat your lips with one of our Pretty Lipsticks. They’re all the rage for fall.

Stay Pretty,
Jacqui

Bang it out! Styling Solutions For Bangs

If you’ve picked up any kind of fashion magazine lately you’ll have seen plenty of short cropped bangs – mmmmm sexy. Well, they can be, if done right. If you’re not ready for the super short look try longer bangs, or as we say fringe, swept across your face to create the illusion of bangs. Smooth bangs: For some of us smooth bangs take a little work. Here’s the easiest way to smooth out the area.

Starting with wet hair

  1. Emulsify a small amount (like a pea) of a straightening or smoothing lotion in your hands. Run your hands through your bang area in a downward forward motion.
  2. With a fine tooth comb, comb bang in downward motion and apply the heat of a blow dryer. Note you should work on bang area before drying any other area of your hair.
  3. Blow dry the rest of your hair.
  4. Finish the bangs with a small amount of light hold wax t to stop fly-aways and keep your smooth look all day long.

Summer makeup

Hey Washinistas!

Whether you’re going for the desert look sported on Michael Kors runways, or the “Bright White” made popular this season by Dior it’s all about being FRESH this summer. Remember your cosmetic bag should reflect your suitcase. So, when your just packing a bikini, a sarong and a sexy summer dress your makeup should be just as light.
Start your light look with Pretty Mineral Sheer Tint, which pulls triple duty as a moisturizing SPF 20, and a tint that evens out skin tone while giving a healthy glow.
Next dot Creme stick blush along cheek bones and blend with your finger for a little color.
Curl your lashes and give them a couple coats of Lush mascara.
Top it all with one of our Super glosses on your lips.
Your ready to enjoy summer with your “Fresh” face forward.

Summer Heat - Fashion feel goods

DressesOK, so you know that outfit that makes you feel good no matter what day it is or what’s going on.   Well, don’t you wish you felt like that every day?  You can, from now on when you go to the store only buy clothes that you absolutely must have. If you’re having second doubts in the store than you probably won’t ever wear it.  Leave it alone.  Here are a few style trends for Summer 2006 that’ll have you looking and feeling like the latest thing walking down the runway.  Dresses are huge this season.  And while all dresses don’t work for everyone, you’ll be sure to find one that works for you.  This season there is no right or wrong for dresses.  They come in virtually every silhouette and style.  They can be worn to the office or dressed up at night by throwing a belt around your waist, letting your hair down and adding a little color to your lips. Pair them with the hottest wedges you own.  Wedge heels stretch out the calf and make the leg look long and sleek.   Hot colors this season are navy blue, white and red.  Try them together to create a bold statement.
